PLASTISOL INKS
Plastisol is the ink of choice in most shops and we also recommend it as a lower-cost alternative for large orders of finished goods such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, and tote bags. It has no solvent and is 100% solid. The ink binds or "cures" on the surface of the printed material. Plastisol is also necessary for most poly or technical-fiber apparel. We have stock inks available to choose from or we can mix a custom Pantone ink for your design from the Pantone Solid Coated library for a small added fee. Here is our stock color list of plastisol inks we always have on hand.
WATER BASED INKS
Water-based inks dye the fibers of the fabric or substrate with the pigment or dye in the ink. For clothing, this means a softer hand or "feel" on the garment. Our shop started with water-based inks and it is still one of our favorite options for most applications. If you are looking for a vintage look with a soft hand, this is the way to go.
SPECIALTY INKS
We offer varying options for specialty inks to enhance your printed design as well, such as gold and silver metallic, puff additives for a dimensional effect, pearl ink to make a design glisten, and even light reflective inks.
DISCHARGE INKS
Discharge inks are water-based inks that use a discharge agent in the ink to remove the manufacturer's dye in the natural fibers of the garment before re-coloring it with the pigment in the ink. Discharge ink is recommended if you want no "feel" on the garment and if you want a bright print on a dark garment. Because the discharge agent can only remove color in natural fibers, this process is more effective on shirts with natural fibers, such as cotton.
