Letterpress

WHAT IS LETTERPRESS?

Letterpress is a process that traditionally uses lead type, ink, and paper to produce different style prints with a unique pressed texture. At our shop, we have an Original Heidelberg Printing Press, also known as a windmill press, which has a hand that spins like a windmill to grab and feed paper through the press to be printed. The biggest difference between letterpress and screen printing is the texture that they produce. Our letterpress is a platen press, which means it presses the paper into the plate, leaving an imprinted texture that letterpress is known for.

WHAT WE CAN DO

Our letterpress has a maximum size print we can do it about 5” x 7” for the highest quality. Because of that, we recommend using the printing press for smaller prints: postcards, thank you cards, business cards, hangtags, etc. Designs should be in the same art file forms that we ask for with screen printing but have a few more restrictions when it comes to complexity. If you have questions about pricing or designs, fill out a design quote or contact us. If you’re interested in a poster-sized print, consider reaching out about a screen-printed poster!
